Fidelity Investments has invited our 8th grade students to participate in a day of learning about financial literacy and careers during the 1st week of December, 2015. Each student has been assigned ONE day to participate. Please see your student’s permission form to see which day he/she has been assigned. Students will enjoy financial literacy workshops, department tours and career talks, snacks, and lunch while on Fidelity's campus. Junior Achievement has partnered with Fidelity for this special event to bring the program, "Economics for Success," to our students. Fidelity is committed to sharing their experience and resources with students and schools. View examples online.
CHAPERONES are still needed for this trip. We depart school at 8:30 and depart Fidelity at 1:45. Chaperones must be registered on the WCPSS volunteer registry - which this year is open every day and evening at any WCPSS facility. Are you considering going to an "Early College", where you will begin your college program during your junior year of high school? All college courses and textbooks are paid for by WCPSS and you can continue the program at a college or university after high-school graduation. A special Mini Fair for "Early Colleges/Leadship Academies" will held this year for the first time. It will be at Vernon Malone College and Career Academy on October 17th starting at 9:00am. There are several types of "Early Colleges": Vernon Malone Collge and Career Academy, Wake STEM Early College, Wake Young Men's Leadership Academy, Wake Young Women's Leadership Academy, and Wake Early College of Health and Science. Transportation YOU is a hands-on, interactive, mentoring program that offers middle and high school age girls an introduction to a wide variety of transportation careers. The WTS (Women’s Transportation Seminar) NC Triangle Chapter hosts 4 Transportation YOU events during the school year. Each offers a free dinner, guest speakers and exciting activities. Don't miss the second one of the 2015-2016 school year on November 19th - grab a friend, get a ride and enjoy the events. Parents can also attend.
